DIVERTING FACTS

Replacing the 3.3 billion petroplastic bin liners and 1.3 million stainless steel bins consumed in the UK annually with OneBin could help us divert finite resources to higher uses.

Replacing the 3.3 billion petroplastic bin liners and 1.3 million stainless steel bins consumed in the UK annually with OneBin could help us divert finite resources to higher uses.

Our ultimate ambition is that all stainless steel bins and petroplastic liners are replaced by OneBin and Compost-a-box.

Our ambition for OneBin is to enable the diversion of finite natural resources to higher uses. Our short term diversion objectives are shown below which do not include estimates of the resources consumed or pollutants arising from extraction, processing (except smelting coke) or disposal of the resources necessary to produce stainless steel bins and petroplastic liners.

Our ambition for Compost-a-box is to divert food waste to home produced compost thereby avoiding travel miles in disposal and associated CO2.

Approximations based on average household consumption of 1 OneBin every 11 days, approximating to  3 petroplastic bin liners and the replacement of 1.3m stainless steel bins each year across the 28m households in the UK assuming a bin life of up to 20 years.

Embodied resource diversion relates to the resource contained within petroplastic liners and stainless steel containers
